New at Leiton: Transparent Circuit Boards

Circuit boards don't have to be opaque. Leiton offers transparent PCBs made from light-permeable base material – as an alternative to classic FR4 for all applications where light and electronics are meant to work together.
What makes them special: while transparent circuits on the market are usually one or two layers or based on glass substrates, Leiton offers through-hole multilayers up to 6 layers. This allows for more complex routing without sacrificing the optical character.
The material is translucent, not crystal clear. Light transmission is around 55 percent with diffuse scattering – ideal for even, flat light distribution, not for maximum optical clarity.
Typical areas of application include LED modules and backlit panels, signage and display backing, architectural lighting, as well as design objects and exhibits where the visible routing itself becomes a design feature.
Manufactured using standard processes: conductor pattern, drilling, through-hole plating, etching and common final finishes such as ENIG or HAL lead-free. The material is low-halogen (Cl <900, Br <900, total <1,500 ppm). Note on flame rating: UL94 HB, not flame retardant to V-0 or V-1 – suitability must be assessed against the respective fire protection requirements.
